Yesodei Hatorah

Yesodei Hatorah is a Multi-level course whose bold mission is to take anyone who can read Hebrew and make him an independent Talmud learner.

We have six levels to accommodate anyone.  From those who can only read Hebrew without translating to those who are on the cusp of deciphering the Talmud independently.  

Schedule

Yesodei Hatorah meets twice a week;  Sunday mornings 9:15am - 10:45am and Tuesday evenings 8pm-10pm. 

Semesters

There are four semesters throughout the year:

Semester 1: Sukkot through December

Semester 2: January through Pesach

Semester 3: Post-Pesach through July

Semester 4: August until after Sukkot

Cost per semester is $50 ($75 if not pre-paid).  Cost includes all books and materials.

Description of Levels  

Torah Course (Chumash track)

Rabbi Shimon Zev Feigenbaum:  Translation skills through study of Chumash text.  Analysis of Torah narrative with study of Rashi commentary.

Talmud Course

Level 1 - Rabbi Moshe Hiller:  Basic Hebrew - prefixes, suffixes, conjugation of verbs, history & development of Mishna, basic Talmudic reasoning.

Level 2 - Rabbi Shimon Zev Feigenbaum:  Rashi script, advanced Hebrew grammar, Beginning Aramaic, Intermediate Talmudic analysis.

Level 3 - Rabbi Menashe Goldberger: Intermediate Aramaic, structured Talmudic logical analysis.

Level 4 - Rabbi Menachem Deutsch: Advanced Aramaic, Advanced Talmudic analysis & text study.

Level 5 - Rabbi Eliyahu Tendler: In-depth textual study with Talmudic commentaries.

Level 6 - Rabbi Yoel Spotts: Beginning of independent Talmud study with guidance of instructor.

Students generally remain in each level for one full year (four semesters).
